Five 90-minute documentaries spanning three hundred years tell the story of pivotal moments in U.S. history from the Native American perspective. **Part 3 Trail of Tears** The Cherokee would call it Nu-No-Du-Na-Tlo-Hi-Lu, “The Trail Where They Cried.” On May 26, 1838, federal troops forced thousands of Cherokee from their homes in the Southeastern United States, driving them toward Indian Territory in Eastern Oklahoma. More than 4,000 died of disease and starvation along the way. ==See Also== {{http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/weshallremain/|PBS Site}} ==Preview== {{ youtube>jxf5w6e5tvQ }} {{tag>History USA PBS PBS_American_Experience SER Ric_Burns PBS_American_Experience_Ric_Burn's_We_Shall_Remain_(2009) 2009 Ar07/13 Name}}
