Charles “Lucky” Luciano is considered the most powerful mafia boss in the USA in the 1930s. He makes a fortune from prostitution, drug smuggling and racketeering. Soon after expanding his criminal operation to illegal prostitution, the kingpin has a network of up to 200 brothels and 1,200 prostitutes in the city. His decision to go into the prostitution business gives Thomas Dewey the opportunity to arrest him and put him on trial. After two months on the run, Lucky is arrested in his hideout in corrupt Hot Springs, Arkansas. Back in New York, he is out of bail facing charges of compulsory prostitution and plans his defense against Dewey for his trial on May 13, 1936 in Supreme Court.
