Never societies have consumed so much raw material in the early twenty-first century. Wheat, rice, sugar, soybean oil … All these products are now objects of speculation. The emergence of major powers like China, India and Brazil has caused an explosion in demand. But this is not the only explanation for the surge in prices. Policies, NGOs and the media refer to traders as the main responsible for soaring prices. But who are these speculators accused of starving the planet? And most importantly, how these commodity markets deemed complex and opaque?

For the first time, a documentary dismantles the mechanisms of this great world trade to economic issues, major political and food, and reveals the daily life of those who are the main players traders themselves, the men and women who buy , transport, sell merchandise and speculate on changes in their prices. African cotton plantations of the Hong Kong import companies, Brazilian soybean fields in the hall of the Chicago Board of Trade markets, through commercial ports of Santos and Le Havre.
