BBC - Tanya Tagaq and Nanook of the North (1922)

Nanook of the North, a 1922 silent film made by American film-maker Robert J Flaherty, chronicled the traditional ways of the Canadian Inuit just as they were disappearing for ever. It follows the lives of Nanook and his ‘family’ living in some of the harshest landscapes on earth.

This version features an entirely new soundtrack by Canadian Inuk throat-singer, Tanya Tagaq, recorded in association with The Banff Centre, Canada.
