Channel 4 - Fatberg Autopsy Secrets of the Sewers (2018)

Under the streets of Britain's cities an epidemic of fatbergs plagues our sewers. These monster blockages of congealed fat, wet wipes, and human waste, are a product of what we've flushed down our toilets and sinks. But why are we suddenly seeing more and more of them, and what exactly do they contain? Presenter and science enthusiast Rick Edwards joins a team of scientists and sewer workers to perform the first ever fatberg autopsy - taken from one of the biggest blockages ever found in the UK, at east London's Abbey Mills Pumping Station, the 'cathedral of sewage'. Pathology technician Carla Valentine and a team of experts analyse the contents to discover the chemistry, biology and toxicology of this beast from the sewer, revealing our dirty secrets and the danger that fatbergs pose to our cities and health.
