Channel 4 - The Hunt for the Boston Bombers (2014)

With unique access to the FBI, Boston Police Department, victims of the Boston marathon bombings and those who were caught up in the manhunt, this documentary tells the inside story of five days of terror in Boston in April 2013.

From the citizens, the police and the FBI, to the Mayor and the Governor's office, this is the city's story in its own words. Interviews and cinematic dramatisations tell moving accounts of courage alongside the gripping inside story of the biggest investigation and manhunt of recent times. When you have surveillance photographs of suspects, do you go public with them and risk that the suspects may go on the rampage?

The programme examines this dilemma and the key moments in the decision-making process that led to the release of photographs: a decision that 'flushed out' the terrorists but culminated in the murder of a police officer and set off an extraordinary chain of events.

The film also explores the relationship between the media, relentlessly trying to get the story out there as it happened, and the investigating agencies who felt that media intrusion was constantly hampering their efforts to do their job, forcing them into certain decisions.
