Channel 4 - Merseyside Detectives The Murders of Ashley and Olivia (2024) (4)

Liverpool, 2022 - Ashley Dale and nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel are shot dead at home, victims of feuding gangs. Can the police bring the killers to justice?

Produced by LA Productions for Channel 4.

Chapter 1

The case of two people who lived within two miles of each other in Liverpool, and who were each shot in their own homes within less than two days of each other. While the pressure built on Merseyside Police to find the gunmen, some people involved with a web of feuding organised crime groups were forced to decide whether or not to talk to the police.

Chapter 2

Olivia's mum Cheryl makes a public appeal to those who know something about the shooting to speak out, addressing her daughter's killer directly. In Ashley's murder investigation, voice notes on her phone reveal a long-standing feud between her boyfriend and the head of a local organised crime group. Arrests are made in relation to Olivia's murder, but no-one will talk.

Chapter 3

The investigations into the high-profile deaths of 28-year-old Ashley Dale and nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel, who were both killed in 2022. The suspect named in Olivia's shooting is arrested, but there's not enough evidence to detain him and it's hoped a key witness will have the courage to go into detail about the night of the murder and the true nature of her relationship with the suspected gunman. In Ashley's murder investigation, detectives track the movements of a car seen on the street at the time of the shooting and identify two men.

Chapter 4

In the investigation into Ashley Dale's murder, the encrypted phone of the suspected mastermind behind her shooting is seized. The phone's messages reveal contact between the suspect and a lieutenant in his organised crime gang about buying not only drugs but firearms - the same type of gun used to shoot Ashley. Olivia Pratt-Korbel's case goes to trial with the suspect continuing to plead his innocence. Olivia's mother Cheryl writes a heart-felt victim impact statement about the loss of her daughter, but the suspect refuses to turn up for sentencing.
