Channel 5 - Iceland with Alexander Armstrong (2021)

Alexander Armstrong embarks on a journey across Iceland, traversing the full breadth of the country to discover more about Iceland's unique culture, wildlife and landscapes.

Chapter 1

He begins his Icelandic adventure by helicopter, hovering just yards above the rim of an erupting and lethal volcano close to the capital of Reykjavik, before heading east to Iceland's Golden Circle, which is home to some of its most famous sights.

Chapter 2

Leaving Reykjavik he heads for northern Iceland and the port of Husavik, beloved of whale watchers, Will Ferrell and Eurovision fans the world over. In this laid-back town, he meets a fisherman who has just caught a huge Greenland shark, 20 feet long and worth ?3,000. Icelanders consider it a delicacy to eat, but it's regularly voted one of the world's most disgusting food dishes. He also meets Iceland's finest knitter and learns how to make the jumper no Icelander would be seen without - a lopapeysa.

Chapter 3

On the last leg of his Icelandic adventure, Alexander heads to the south of the country, where he takes in some of the country's most spectacular scenery. On the top of a glacier, he learns how the ice is thinning at an alarming rate, before boarding the world's greenest and weirdly silent ferry, heading for the island of Heimaey.
