The Night Stalker chronicles the desperate search to find Ramirez by focusing on the police officers tasked with bringing the killer to justice. Set against the hazy backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles, the four-part series tells the story of one of the most notorious serial killers in U.S. history from the perspective of the two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detectives who hunted him down – as well as some of the victims who managed to escape his wrath. The unlikely pair who had to sift through the clues were Gil Carrillo, a young and outgoing detective, and his taciturn mentor, the legendary investigator Frank Salerno. Two detectives won't rest until they catch him.

Part 2 Anyone Could be Next

In the second episode, viewers get to see the thrilling chase as the detectives try to find evidence to nab the infamous killer. Detectives Gil Carrillo and Frank Salerno find themselves pulled deeper into the investigation as more crimes pop-up. The detectives come to the conclusion that there is a serial killer in Los Angeles and paranoia begins to sweep across the LA area. Scant clues and a rapidly rising body count take a toll on Carrillo and Salerno — but an impounded vehicle may lead to a break. With evidence of a specific shoeprint linking the crimes, Carrillo and Salerno learn that their advantage could be lost when the media learns about it. They endure many sleepless nights trying to piece together who is perpetrating the killings. The two detectives also find a tooth sample which they believe belongs to the Night Stalker. The near arrest of the killer leads to a missed opportunity, but a second chance to find him.
